Five cosy winter desserts

Winter is the best season for staying in and enjoying hot desserts. 

From self-saucing puddings to buttery citrus cakes, here are five recipes to get you through the season. 

The easiest fruit crumble

Use whatever tinned fruit you have on hand, such as apple, peach or pear.()

Hetty Lui McKinnon's combines two delicious puddings to make one magical treat. She's included notes if you'd like to make this one vegan. 

Double citrus syrup cake

There's something soothing about poking holes into the just-baked cake and gently pouring the citrus syrup over the top. Julia Busuttil Nishimura is behind this easy cake.

Rice pudding uses a handful of ingredients you probably already have at home. This recipe is a childhood favourite of Brisbane chef and cafe-owner Caroline Jones, who includes a bonus recipe for her mum's baked custard.
